Product & Pricing Intelligence Services for a Finland Company

The Situation

Our customer is one the best IT & Software Development service providers in Finland, and the end client is a mobile phone manufacturer. They would like to gather mobile communication devices and mobile phones information including manufacturer, model, type and price from worldwide e-Commerce web sites. The project is outsourced to us, researching information and recording them into MS Excels. They will be imported into an online application developed by our customer to analyze the price & market trend and for the purpose of business intelligence.

The Solution

Originally, our customer was aiming to develop an automated tool which will try to frequently scan price information from all web sites using the product name information gathered. Through communication with them, we found out the automated scanning price tool is not stable. The fields of model, type and subtype couldn’t specify a mobile phone, and the prices of sim locked and simfree phones vary a lot. Taking these factors into account, we created new templates including Price, Megapixels, Memory, SimLocked operator, SimLocked Month Price, URL for easily tracking and other fields. Now, we are collecting these data manually.
